The Parent-Child Mother Goose Program® is a group experience for families with babies and young children. Through the program, parents gain skills and confidence that help them create positive family patterns during their children's crucial early years. At the same time, children benefit from enjoyable, healthy early experiences with language and communication. There is emphasis on nurturing the positive interaction between parent and child using touching, tickling and cuddling. Each group meets with two facilitators once a week for one hour.
Together, parents and children experience the spark of delight and magic that comes from enjoying a favourite song or rhyme. Facilitators teach parents rhymes and songs that they can use as a means of interacting with their children. The facilitators share their repertoire of various types of rhymes, e.g., bouncing, tickling, hand clapping, etc. with parents which helps to strengthened the connection and bond within families. Songs and lullabies are also taught at a slow and gentle pace. Families get a chance to listen and learn the art of storytelling during their participation.
The whole family benefits as the rhymes, songs, stories, and skills learned are brought home and shared with all family members.
